Lord Chamberlain decided (on 10620/26) not to entertain the idea of re-enacting the C.D. Ord: in Hong Kong.
Since then the Sec. of State for India has decided, as regards India, to introduce the system of compulsory detention in hospital of persons found to be suffering from these diseases with the alteration of expulsion from the cantonments; but at the same time Lord Hamilton has expressly laid down that compulsory & periodical examination — in other words the re-enactment of the C.D. system in India is still regarded.
The proposals made for India are clearly inapplicable...
